New Year’s Resolutions for Cats

Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions for yourself for 2019? It’s always good to strive for self-improvement, but the start of a new year is a great time to reset and focus on your goals. As you work to achieve your new priorities, your feline buddy will be right there at your feet. (Or on your lap. Or in your chair.) Actually, your pet may have a few goals of her own for the new year. Read on as a local Temecula, CA vet lists some of Fluffy’s top New Year’s resolutions.

Help The Humans

It may seem like your cat does nothing but lounge around looking adorable, but that isn’t really fair. Fluffy does try to lend a helping paw around the house. For instance, if you get up, she may jump into your chair to keep it warm. Or, she may offer her assistance with things like changing the sheets or packing suitcases.

Be Affectionate

Some kitties love to snuggle up with their humans. Others are more aloof, and prefer to be admired from a distance. Your furball may vow to be a bit more affectionate this year.

Explore!

Fluffy has quite the taste for adventure. We strongly recommend keeping cats indoors for safety reasons. However, your furry pal can still indulge her love of exploring things by investigating boxes, paper grocery bags, and closets or cupboards you don’t open very often.

Get Lots of Sleep

Fluffy won’t have trouble making this goal. Kitties can sleep up to 20 hours a day! Offer your drowsy furball lots of comfy beds and napping spots to snuggle up in.

Work On The Pounce

In the wild, cats are ferocious hunters. Even if your kitty would have no idea what to do with a mouse if she actually caught one, she’ll still enjoy pouncing on toys, shoelaces, and anything else she may find amusing. Offer your furry buddy lots of fun toys, and take time to play with her daily.

Speak Up

Just like people, cats all have their own unique voices. Some kitties are furry little chatterboxes, while others rarely speak at all. Fluffy may become more vocal this year. She may even respond when you talk to her!
