Things Your Dog is Not Particularly Thankful For

At this time of year, it’s important to reflect on the things we are grateful for. Dogs are definitely pretty high on that list. But what about Fido? It’s pretty safe to say that if your canine pal could list the things he is thankful for, bacon, belly rubs, and car rides would make the cut, along with soft beds, walks, and, of course, you. However, there are some things your pooch may not be as appreciative about as he should be. In this article, a Temecula, CA vet lists some things that Fido isn’t very grateful for.

We suspect that dogs actually enjoy feeling soft and clean. However, they aren’t very happy about the process that gets them there. Fido may even run and hide at the sound of the word Bath!

Leashes are an important safety tool. They help keep your canine friend from running off after squirrels or chasing the neighbor’s cat. That’s exactly why Fido would rather do without them!

As we all know, Man’s Best Friend has a taste for exploring. Just like leashes, fences help keep dogs contained. Having a yard to patrol is great for Fido. While your canine pal may happily spend time outside each day, he probably wishes that barrier wasn’t there.

Proper veterinary care is crucial to your furry buddy’s health and well-being. Fido will both look and feel better with proper veterinary care. However, we’re pretty sure that most of our canine patients would much rather take a nap or visit a doggy park than come see us.

Modern Packaging

If dogs had thumbs, Fido would happily open every container of dog food in the house. He’d also likely end up quite obese, which could cause some very serious health issues for him. But, no matter how smart your pooch is, he probably isn’t very grateful for not being able to open his own food or treats.

Overgrown nails can be quite problematic for our canine friends. They’re very uncomfortable for Fido, and can cause him to change his gait, putting additional stress on his bones and joints. Even so, your four-legged buddy isn’t particularly enthusiastic about getting his claws trimmed.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Murrieta Family Pet Hospital, your local Temecula, CA vet clinic. Please feel free to contact us anytime!
